Fifteen of them went over, at noon, yesterday. I saw them coming up from the south and rushed out to ..... Have a gander!
Sorry. Where was I? Yes, so they passed over at a hundred yards or so. Following the small river that everything seems to follow round here.
Never had the decency to say more than half a word. One, half hearted, honk out of the lot of them. So, so much for getting them on what they say.
My eyes are shot to ribbons and I've never been good on geese anyway. Didn't know what to look for, whether I could see it or not.
Impression I got was that they had dark wings ~ top and bottom ~ and I could just make out the pale under rumps.
I'm guessing Brent? Never noticed any neck marks. Frankly, I'd have thought I would. Maybe I'm kidding myself? Equally though, such no longer pin sharp vision could have led me to miss the black tail trim on Whitefronts. Dunno. Not sure.
Anyone out there up on what geese we should expect to see now ~ heading north over South Leitrim? Cheers.
