Tomorrow (20th March 2011) is the second "World Sparrow Day". Aiming to raise awareness of the conservation concern of House Sparrow and other members of this family. Details on my blog
Nice one, Andy. Cheers
Regards buying 'Sparrow Terraces' ~ as mentioned on ye Blog ~ I'm of the view of why bother with them, frankly. Cost a fortune, no matter how badly made. Use up valuable space, by virtue of having a nest hole at either end, so ye need to leave a big gap between one and another. The RSPB one even has a bottom opening door?! Brilliant for BTO Nest Recorders or Ringers!
Just knock up and bang up three separate nest boxes. Then, if ye get takers, bang up some more. Here's my ones. Got them up last week:
See? Maximising use of space. Need more? I can string them right along that wall plate.
Make them myself. Price of One 'Sparrow Terrace', I can buy the timber for about fifteen of my own, single boxes. Banged out seven more today. In a short afternoon
Surprised you haven't painted them green ditch... just in case
Oh, come on, Pete. A joke's a joke. But, just what sort of 'Green Sparrow' obsessed nut job do ye take me for ....?
Oh. Alright. Fair cop .....
