Recent information includes vagrant Black Stork and Spur-winged Plover and Crested Honey Buzzard and Honey Buzzard Records for winter / spring 2011. This information is on a new website (www.birdsofsaudiarabia.com) I have just started to record bird sightings from my local patch of Dhahran, Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
The site may be valuable for European birders who may want to see what is happening in the Middle East with regards to migrants that could well be on the move to Europe and give some idea as to what may be turning up in the next few days or weeks in that area.
Bird wise the country is very under-watched and data is scare and hard to come by, which is a pity as it has a lot to offer the birder. This website is an attempt to help rectify the situation in a small way and anyone interested in birds of Saudi Arabia who would like to add their pictures and details to this site are welcome to contact me.
I would also like to be corrected on incorrect identification (hopefully few) or any data on the number of times a species has been recorded. I am new to the area and have limited knowledge of what has happened in the past if it is not documented in an easy to find place so am sure I will not know all the records of rare species recorded in the country.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy the site if you visit.
