    Default Finsch’s or Pied Wheatear?

I saw this bird a week ago at Sabkhat Al Fasl (Jubail) Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. I have been studying it since and have been unable to convince myself of its identification.

Initial thoughts were it may be a Finsch’s Wheatear due to the tail pattern (which we saw quite well – photo included but tail not fully spead). A 1st year male Pied Wheatear was also present in the same place and its tail pattern was obvious and easy to see and appeared very different to this bird.

If you have any ideas on the identification of this bird please let me know.

A couple of dditional pictures and other details of the bird can be found here for those interested

    Thanks for any help

What can be seen of the tail pattern looks better for Finsch's but it would be nice to see the tail spread to be sure.
