    Default Laughing Falcon

I was out yesterday and found a Laughing Falcon. I had great views of the bird, but it was shady and dark where he was perched and I couldn't get a good photo. I found him again today and even though he was farther away, the light was decent. I can't believe the face on this bird, it is so cute. It hardly seems like a raptor. I think the name should be Falco rafaelii or Falco cherubinii.

    Hi Sue,
yet another good bird for you. I saw one in Costa Rica at Palo Verde NP ~ they do look very endearing. Dan

p.s one small point, the 2nd part of the scientific name is always entirely in lower case, (regardless of any proper noun derivation too) so your bird, if you could have named it would be Falco rafaelii or Falco cherubini

I know that, don't know where my head was! Thank-you, I'll edit here and my blog.
Yes, it is a good bird here. It's not common in the canal area. I did see a pair in the same area on February 5, 2011. It was a lifer then and this is only the second time I've seen one.
