I saw these birds on a walk around a wetland reserve in Bedfordshire today.
Photo 1: Reed Bunting?
Photo 2: Pochard? Had a Grey Back, head colour hard to make out, but cannot be teal because the head has no pattern/markings.
Photo 3: Pretty sure is a Kestrel, although the only birds of prey reported on the reserve in the last month were Sparrowhawk and Peregrine Falcon. The Bird was hovering like a Kestrel but the light was too poor to get a colourful photo.
Photo 4: Possibly the same bird as 3. It was seen from the same hide 10 mins later but this time returned with another bird of the same type. Thiese two birds did not hover and appeared larger and more greyish but the photo is poorer so it will be hard to tell.
Photo 5: Is it a red bird or is it the sunlight reflecting on it? Any ideas on the species? Bird was small, Tit size (ish).
