Red-crowned crane (Grus japonensis) are also known as Japanese Cranes, Manchurian Crane or Fairy Crane. They are often seen to be depicted in traditional paintings and statues, which symbolizes longevity in the Orient culture! For those who aren't aware, the official logo of Japan Airlines features a Red-crowned crane too!
Unfortunately, they are categorized as Endangered by the IUCN. It is such a pity that these graceful birds are in the endangered category.
I'm looking forward to visit them again in Feb 2012 and to capture great pictures of winter wildlife!
