The LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50 is the second high-performance binocular model from Leica Camera AG, Solms to feature selectable magnification. Complementing the LEICA DUOVID 8 + 12 x 42 launched in spring 2002 as a worldwide innovation, this model offers the choice of 10x and 15x magnification. The magnification is switched by a simple twist of the two binocular tubes. Eyesight correction settings are retained even when magnification is changed due to the ADCTM automatic diopter compensation. The binocular prism benefits from new HighLux system coating technology, where a special mirror coating enhances light transmission for an even brighter image and higher overall contrast.

The magnification switching facility allows the binoculars to adapt flexibly to different viewing situations. The advantage of the 10x magnification is a particularly steady image with a large depth of field and a wide field of view. The 15x magnification, on the other hand, is good for viewing extremely small details and is particularly useful for long-distance viewing. The binoculars' newly designed ergonomics and well-balanced weight distribution ensure that the necessary steadiness of the image is achieved at this magnification, too.

The LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50 is the first model to use two Leica coating technologies: the HDCTM coating process and the newly designed HighLux system. The latter employs an extra reflecting layer with over 99.5% reflectance on the prism system. This increases the prism's light transmission, thereby producing a sharper and brighter image. Contrast has been further enhanced by the consistent further development of Leica's own optics software for the optimization of stray light. As from the market launch of the LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50, this new development will be integrated into the series production of the LEICA DUOVID 8 + 12 x 42 as well.

The patented eyecups of the LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50 can be pulled out into two different clickstop positions as well as the setting for eyeglass wearers. In this way, the LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50 takes account of the anatomical differences in human faces, ensuring optimum viewing conditions for all. Moreover, the eyecups are detachable for easy cleaning.

The ergonomic design of the binoculars and the non-slip armoring - in either black or green - ensures that they are easy to hold, even in damp weather or when wearing gloves. For an even better grip and at the same time, lighter weight, Leica has implemented for the first time ribbed armoring on the inside of the binoculars. The proven multi-functional central drive offers a high level of operational convenience for adjusting the focus and diopter compensation controls.

The LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50 comes with a Leica tripod adapter, which fits all LEICA TRINOVID BA/BN and LEICA DUOVID Full Size binoculars and allows comfortable and shake-free viewing over long periods of time.

The LEICA DUOVID 10 + 15 x 50 went on sale at Leica stockists' from February 2003.
