Dark-eyed Junco
Slate-colored Junco

Ranges from Alaska to Southern Canada and over almost all of the U.S. In winter, they prefer open woods, undergrowth, roadsides and brush.Common in suburban areas in the winter.

Approximately 5.5 inches in length, birds are dark gray above with a pink, conical bill and white outer tail feathers visible in flight. There is considerable geographic variation in plumage, with birds in the west appearing browner.
