The following trip report outlines the itinerary followed by Aulliki Nahkola during her stay at Serra dos Tucanos Lodge in the Atlantic forest of south-east Brazil from 28th May - 5th June 2006.

The complete species list for the tour is at the end of this report.

Sunday 28th May - Arrival and Serra dos Tucanos Lodge
Upon arrival in the dark there is never a great deal to see! However, Magnificent Frigatebirds were recorded near the airport.

Monday 29th May High Altitude Trail, combined upper and lower section
Today we were to spend the first day at the higher elevations of the Serra do Mar mountains. With good weather we set off and headed up to an altitude of approximately 1800m asl and slowly climbed to 2200m asl.
Species of note for the day included: Red-legged Seriema, Plovercrest, White-throated Hummingbird, Brazilian Ruby, Pallid Spinetail, Itatiaia Thistletail, Red-eyed Thornbird, Rufous-backed Antvireo, Rufous-tailed Antbird, Dusky-tailed Antbird, Black and Gold Cotinga, Grey-winged Cotinga, Serra do Mar Tyrannulet, Blue-billed Black-Tyrant, Shear-tailed Grey-Tyrant, Brassy-breasted Tanager and Bay-chested Warbling Finch.

Tuesday 30th May Three-toed Jacamar Excursion
Without doubt the Three-toed Jacamar is one of the target species of south-east Brazil birding trips. Species of note for the day included: Lesser Yellow-headed Vulture, White-tailed Hawk, Aplomado Falcon, Red-legged Seriema, Blue-winged Macaw, Glittering-bellied Emerald, Three-toed Jacamar, White-eared Puffbird, Yellow-eared Woodpecker, Green-barred Woodpecker, Grey and White-rumped Monjita, Crested Black Tyrant, Streamer-tailed Tyrant, Long-tailed Tyrant, Green-backed Becard, Tawny-headed Swallow, Black-capped Donacobius, Magpie and Gilt-edged Tanagers.

Wednesday 31st May Serra dos Tucanos grounds
Today was a half day in the grounds and on the trails of the lodge to try and pick up some of the harder endemics. Species of note for the day included: Plain Parakeet, Scaly-headed Parrot, Saw-billed Hermit, Sombre Hummingbird, Brazilian Ruby, Spot-billed Toucanet, Channel-billed Toucan, White-throated Woodcreeper, Spot-breasted Antvireo, Star-throated Antwren, Ferruginous Antbird, Streak-capped Antwren, Black-cheeked Gnateater, Blue and Pin-tailed Manakin, Yellow-lored Tody- Flycatcher, Sharpbill, Ruby-crowned, Brazilian, Green-headed and Red-necked Tanagers.

Thursday 1st June Serra dos Orgaos National Park
Today we traveled to the spectacular organ mountains, although heavy rain and thick cloud made birding tricky at times we still succeeded in seeing some of the main target birds. Species of note for the day included: Maroon-bellied Parakeet, Yellow-eared, Yellow-throated and Blond-crested Woodpecker, Rufous-capped Spinetail, Pale-browed Treehunter, Sharp-tailed Streancreeper, Thrush-like and Lesser Woodcreeper, Large-tailed Antshrike, Rufous-backed Antvireo, Brazilian Antthrush, Hooded Berryeater, White-rimmed Warbler. Yellow-backed and Brassy-breasted Tanager.

Friday 2nd June Theodoro Trail
Today we spent the morning on the Theodoro Trail, followed by lunch back at the lodge and the afternoon on the Lodge trails. Species of note for the day included: Saffron Toucanet, Pallid Spinetail, White-browed and Ochre-breasted Foliage Gleaner, White-throated, Lesser and Scaled Woodcreeper, Large-tailed Antshrike, White-shouldered Fire-eye, Oustalets Tyrannulet, Greenish Schiffornis and Buff-throated Saltator.

Saturday 3rd June Bamboo Trail
Today we headed out for a full day on the Bamboo Trail, looking to clean up on some of the forest endemics. We were not dissaponted! Species of note for the day included: Pileated Parrot, Scale-throated Hermit, Plovercrest, Black-throated Trogon, Sharp-billed Treehunter, White-collared Foliage-Gleaner, Giant Antshrike, Bertonis Antbird, Rufous Gnateater, Slaty Bristlefront, Mouse-colored Tapaculo, Hooded Berryeater, Gray-hooded Flycatcher, Drab-breasted Bamboo-Tyrant, Ochre-faced Tody-Flycatcher, Blue-billed Black-Tyrant, White-necked Thrush, Azure-shouldered Tanager and Geen-winged Saltator.

Sunday 4th June Wetlands Excursion
Today we headed off to a local wetland area where we would spend the morning birding before returning to the lodge for a free afternoon. Species of note for the day included: Least Grebe, Brazilian Teal, Lesser-yellow-headed Vulture, Slaty-breasted Wood-Rail, Striped Cuckoo, Reddish Hermit, White Woodpecker, Tail-banded Hornero, Chestnut-backed and Sooretama Slaty- Antshrike, White-flanked and Unicolored Antwren, Long-billed Wren, Yellow-backed and Hooded Tanager.

Monday 5th June Cedae Trail and departure.
The final morning was upon us, so we reassessed what endemics we were missing and decided to spend the morning on the Cedae Trail. Species of note for the day included: Mantled Hawk, Black-Hawk Eagle, Spot-billed Toucanet, Black-cheeked Gnateater, Gray-hooded Attila, Crested Becard, Sharpbill and Black-throated Grosbeak. We then returned back to the lodge for the journey back to the airport.

During the week we had seen a total of 228 species, of which 75 were Atlantic forest endemics.

Recorded just the once on the 4th.

Recorded on the journey from the airport on the 28th.

Three were recorded on the 4th.

COCOI HERON (Ardea cocoi)
Two seen on the 18th were the only record.

Seen on a few occasions in suitable habitats.

Seen daily, common.

TURKEY VULTURE (Cathartes aura)
Seen almost daily, common.

LESSER YELLOW-HEADED VULTURE (C. burrovianus)
Seen on two occasions, once on the 30th and again on the 4th.

MANTLED HAWK ((Leucopternis polionota)
A single bird was observed well on the 5th.

SAVANNA HAWK (Heterospizias meridionalis)
Recorded in small numbers from suitable habitats on a number of dates.

ROADSIDE HAWK (Buteo magnirostris)
Recorded just the once on the 4th.

WHITE TAILED HAWK (B. albicaudatus)
Single birds were recorded on two dates, once on the 30th and again on the 4th.

BLACK HAWK EAGLE (Spizastur tyrannus)
Although distant, 2 birds showed well on the 5th.

SOUTHERN CARACARA (Caracara cheriway)
Recorded almost daily from suitable habitats.

YELLOW HEADED CARACARA (Milvago chimachima)
Small numbers recorded on the 30th and again on the 4th.

AMERICAN KESTREL (Falco sparverius)
Small numbers were recorded on the 30th.

APLOMADO FALCON (F. femoralis)
A single bird was recorded on the 30th.

DUSKY-LEGGED GUAN (Penelope obscura)
3 birds were seen well on the 30th, this was the only record.

SLATY-BREASTED WOOD-RAIL (Aramides saracura)
A single bird was seen briefly on the 4th.

PURPLE GALLINULE (Porphyrio martinica)
Small numbers were recorded on the 4th.

COMMON MOORHEN (Gallinula chloropus)
Recorded in small numbers on the 4th.

RED-LEGGED SERIEMA (Cariama cristata)
Seen in small numbers on the 29th and again on the 30th.

WATTLED JACANA (Jacana jacana)
Small numbers recorded on the 4th.

SOUTHERN LAPWING (Vanellus chilensis)
Recorded almost daily in suitable habitats.

PICAZURO PIGEON (Patagionas picazuro)
Small numbers recorded almost daily.

RUDDY GROUND DOVE (Columbina talpacoti)
Seen in small numbers daily.

WHITE-TIPPED DOVE (Leptotila verreauxi)
A single bird was recorded on the 3rd.

GRAY-FRONTED DOVE (L. rufaxilla)
Two birds were recorded on the 3rd.

BLUE-WINGED MACAW (Primolius maracana)
A fly by of three birds gave good views on the 30th.

WHITE-EYED PARAKEET (Aratinga leucophthalmus)
Several small groups were recorded on the 30th.

MAROON- BELLIED PARAKEET (Pyrrhura frontalis)
Small numbers recorded on the 1st and again on the 3rd.

PLAIN PARAKEET (Brotogeris tirica)
Common on the garden feeders and small numbers recorded on the 2nd.

PILEATED PARROT (Pionositta pileata)
A single bird gave good views on the 3rd.

SCALY HEADED PARROT (Pionus maximiliani)
Recorded in small numbers in the lodge grounds on most days.

SQUIRREL CUCKOO (Piaya cayana)
Single birds were recorded almost daily.

SMOOTH BILLED ANI (Crotophaga ani)
Small groups observed almost daily from suitable open habitats.

GUIRA CUCKOO (Guira guira)
Small groups observed almost daily from suitable open habitats.

STRIPED CUCKOO (Tapera naevia)
A single was seen on the 4th.

COMMON BARN OWL (Tyto alba)
A single bird was seen well on the 30th.

BURROWING OWL (Athene cunicularia)
Two birds were recorded on the 4th.

WHITE COLLARED SWIFT (Stretoprocne zonaris)
Recorded sporadically throughout the week.

GREY-RUMPED SWIFT (Chaetura cinereiventris)
Recorded in small numbers on the 2nd.

ASHY-TAILED SWIFT (C. andrei)
Recorded in small numbers on the 1st.

SAW BILLED HERMIT (Ramphodon naevius)
Recorded almost daily around the lodge.

SCALE THROATED HERMIT (Phaethornis eurynome)
Recorded in small numbers on the 1st and 3rd.

REDDISH HERMIT (Phaethornis ruber)
Two individuals were seen on the 4th.

Recorded daily at the lodge.

SWALLOW TAILED HUMMINGBIRD (Eupetomena macroura)
Just one record of a single bird on the 30th.

BLACK JACOBIN (Melanotrochilus fuscus)
Just one record at the lodge on the 29th.

PLOVERCREST (Stephanoxis lalandi)
This spectacular hummingbird gave great views on the 29th and again on the 3rd.

GLITTERING-BELLIED EMERALD (Chlorostilbon aureoventris)
Two birds gave great views on the 29th and again on the 30th.

VIOLET CAPPED WOODNYMPH (Thalurania glaucopis)
Recorded daily around the lodge.

WHITE THROATED HUMMINGBIRD (Leucochloris albicollis)
Just two records of single birds, once on the 29th and again on the 5th.

BRAZILIAN RUBY (Clytolaema rubricauda)
Recorded daily from the lodge feeders.

BLACK-THROATED TROGON (Trogon rufus)
Recorded on just two dates, first on the 3rd and again on the 5th.

SURUCUA TROGON (Trogon surrucura)
Two birds were recorded on the 30th and the 5th.

RINGED KINGFISHER (Ceryle torquata)
Single birds were recorded on the 30th and the 4th.

AMAZON KINGFISHER (Chloroceryle amazona)
Just one record of a single bird on the 4th.

THREE-TOED JACAMAR (Jacamaralcyon tridactyla)
As usual this bird performed very well with 3 birds being recorded on the 30th.

WHITE EARED PUFFBIRD (Nystalus chacuru)
A single bird was observed on the 30th.

SAFFRON TOUCANET (Baillonius bailloni)
A group of 3 gave good views on the 2nd.

SPOT BILLED TOUCANET (Selenidera maculirostris)
Recorded in small numbers on several occasions.

CHANNEL BILLED TOUCAN (Rhamphastos vitellinus)
Heard on most days around the lodge, and seen well on the 5th.

WHITE BARRED PICULET (Picumnus cirratus)
Heard and seen on most days.

WHITE WOODPECKER (Melanerpes candidus)
A small group were observed well on the 4th.

YELLOW EARED WOODPECKER (Veniliornis maculifrons)
Single birds were recorded on the 30th, 1st and 3rd.

YELLOW-THROATED WOODPECKER (Piculus flavigula)
A single bird finally gave good views on the 1st.

YELLOW BROWED WOODPECKER (Piculus aurulentus)
Just one record of this stunning bird on the 3rd.

GREEN-BARRED WOODPECKER (Colaptes melanochloros)
A single bird gave great views on the 30th.

CAMPO FLICKER (C. campestris)
Small groups were recorded on the 29th, 30th and again on the 4th.

BLOND CRESTED WOODPECKER (Celeus flavescens)
Recorded daily from the bird feeders in the grounds of the lodge.

TAIL-BANDED HORNERO (Furnarius figulus)
Just one record of two birds on the 4th.

RUFOUS HORNERO (F. rufus)
Small numbers were recorded on the 30th, 3rd and the 4th.

CHICLI SPINETAIL (Synallaxis spixi)
Single birds were recorded on the 29th, 30th and the 3rd.

RUFOUS CAPPED SPINETAIL (S. ruficapilla)
Recorded in small numbers on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

PALLID SPINETAIL (Cranioleuca pallida)
Recorded in small numbers on the 29th, 2nd and the 3rd.

YELLOW CHINNED SPINETAIL (Certhiaxis cinnamomea)
Two records, the first with a pair on the 30th and again on the 4th.

ITATIAIA THISTLETAIL (Oreophylax moreirae)
We were finally rewarded with good views of a single bird on the 29th.

COMMON THORNBIRD (Phacellodomus rufifrons)
Seen in small numbers on the 29th and again on the 30th.

RED-EYED THORNBIRD (P. erythrophthalmus)
A pair gave good views on the 29th.

STREAKED XENOPS (Xenops rutilans)
Just one record of a single bird on the 7th. Recorded

SHARP BILLED TREEHUNTER (Heliobletus contaminatus)
Just one record of a single bird on the 3rd.

WHITE BROWED FOLIAGE GLEANER (Anabacerthia amaurotis)
Recorded on three occasions, 2nd, 3rd and again on the 5th.

BUFF-BROWED FOLIAGE GLEANER (Syndactyla rufosupercileatus)
Just the one record of a single bird on the 3rd.

PALE-BROWED TREEHUNTER (Cichlocolaptes leucophrys)
This elusive bird was seen on two occasions, once on the 1st and again on the 2nd.

BUFF FRONTED FOLIAGE GLEANER (Philydor rufus)
Small numbers were seen on 3 dates.

OCHRE-BREASTED FOLIAGE GLEANER (P. lichtensteini)
A single bird gave good views on the 2nd.

Two sightings, once on the 4th and again on the 5th.

A single bird showed well on the 4th.

A female gave great views on the 4th.

A pair were observed well on the 4th.

Seen well on the 31st in the lodge grounds.

A single bird was observed well on the 3rd.

A male gave great views on the 29th.

A single bird gave good views on the 29th.

STREAK-CAPPED ANTWREN (Terenura maculata)
Single birds were recorded on 3 occasions.

WHITE SHOULDERED FIRE EYE (Pyriglena leucoptera)
Just two records, the first on the 30th when a male was seen, followed by another sighting on the 2nd.

BRAZILIAN ANTTHRUSH (Chamaeza ruficauda)
A single bird gave great views on the 1st.

RUFOUS GNATEATER (Conopophaga lineate)
Seen very well on the 3rd.

BLACK CHEEKED GNATEATER (C. melanops)
Observed well on the 31st. Heard

SLATY BRISTLEFRONT (Merulaxis ater)
Great views of a pair on the 3rd.

MOUSE-COLORED TAPACULO (Scytalopus speluncae)
A single bird showed well on the 3rd.

BLACK AND GOLD COTINGA (Tijuca atra)
Good but distant views of a male on the 29th.

GREY-WINGED COTINGA (T. condita)
Two birds gave good but distant views after responding well to tape playback on the 29th.

HOODED BERRYEATER (Carpornis cucullatus)
Seen well on the 1st and again on the 3rd.

WHITE BEARDED MANAKIN (Manacus manacus)
Several individuals were recorded on the 4th.

BLUE MANAKIN (Chiroxiphia caudata)
Recorded on all trips into the forest, giving very pleasing views on several occasions.

PIN-TAILED MANAKIN (Ilicura militaris)
Seen well on 4 occasions.

YELLOW TYRANNULET (Capsiempis flaveola)
A small family group gave good views on the 4th.

SMALL-BILLED ELAENIA (Elaenia parvirostris)
A single bird gave good views on the 4th.

WHITE-CRESTED TYRANNULET (Serpophaga subcristata)
Just one record of a single bird on the 3rd.

GRAY HOODED FLYCATCHER (Mionectes rufiventris)
A single bird on the 3rd was the only record.

SEPIA CAPPED FLYCATCHER (Leptopogon amaurocephalus)
Recorded on three dates, 31st, 2nd and the 3rd.

OUSTALETS TYRANNULET (Phylloscartes oustaleti)
A single bird gave good views on the 2nd.

SERRA DO MAR TYRANNULET (P. difficilis)
This high altitude endemic gave good views on the 29th.

MOTTLE CHEEKED TYRANNULET (P. ventralis)
Recorded almost daily from suitable forest habitat.

PLANALTO TYRANNULET (Phyllomyias fasciatus)
Several birds were recorded on the 29th and again on the 30th.

EARED-PYGMY TYRANT (Myiornis auricularis)
2 pairs were recorded on the 1st and again on the 2nd

DRAB-BREASTED BAMBOO TYRANT (Hemitriccus diops)
Just the one record of this bamboo specialist on the 3rd.

OCHRE-FACED TODY-FLYCATCHER (Todirostrum plumbeiceps)
2 pairs gave great views on the 30th and again on the 3rd.

YELLOW LORED TODY FLYCATCHER (T. poliocephalum)
Seen well in the lodge grounds and on the 30th and the 3rd.

YELLOW OLIVE FLYCATCHER (Tolmomyias sulphurescens)
One of the commonest flycatchers being seen or heard almost daily.

WHITE THROATED SPADEBILL (Platyrinchus mystaceus)
Heard from most forested habitat, and seen on the 2nd, 3rd and the 4th.

BLACK-TAILED FLYCTACHER (Myiobius atricaudus)
Recorded on three occasions, single birds on the 1st, 4th and the 5th.

CLIFF FLYCATCHER (Hirundinea ferruginea)
Recorded on several occasions.

TROPICAL PEWEE (Contopus cinereus)
One was seen in the lodge grounds on the 31st.

GRAY MONJITA (Xolmis cinerea)
Recorded once on the 30th.

WHITE-RUMPED MONJITA (X. velata)
Recorded once on the 30th.

BLUE-BILLED BLACK-TYRANT (Knipolegus cyanirostris)
Recorded on two occasions, once on the 29th and again on the 3rd.

CRESTED BLACK TYRANT (K. lophotes)
Recorded just the once on the 30th.

MASKED WATER TYRANT (Fluvicola nengeta)
Recorded almost daily from suitable habitats.

WHITE HEADED MARSH TYRANT (Arundinicola leucocephala)
Recorded just the once with small numbers on the 4th.

STREAMER-TAILED TYRANT (Gubernetes yetapa)
Small numbers were recorded on the 30th.

LONG-TAILED TYRANT (Colonia colonus)
A single bird was recorded on the 30th.

CATTLE TYRANT (Machetornis rixosus)
Several birds were recorded on the 30th and again on the 4th.

Small numbers were recorded on the 29th.

One single bird on the 5th was the only record.

Single birds were recorded on the 30th and again on the 3rd.

Recorded almost daily from any suitable habitat.

BOAT-BILLED FLYCATCHER (Megarhyncus pitangua)
Recorded almost daily.

Recorded almost daily from any suitable habitat.

TROPICAL KINGBIRD (Tyrannus melancholicus)
Recorded almost daily from any suitable habitat.

GREENISH SCHIFFORNIS (Schiffornis virescens)
Heard on several occasions with good views of a single bird on the 2nd.

CHESTNUT CROWNED BECARD (Pachyramphus castaneus)
Good views of single birds on the 1st and the 3rd.

GREEN-BACKED BECARD (P. viridis)
Excellent views of a single bird on the 30th.

WHITE WINGED BECARD (P. polychopterus)
Just one record of a pair on the 4th.

CRESTED BECARD (P. validus)
Just one record of a single bird on the 5th.

SHARPBILL (Oxyruncus cristatus)
Excellent views on several dates.

BROWN-CHESTED MARTIN (Progne tapera)
Small numbers were recorded on the 30th and the 4th.

WHITE-RUMPED SWALLOW (Tachycineta leucorrhoa)
A single bird was recorded on the 4th.

BLUE AND WHITE SWALLOW (Pygochelidon cyanoleuca)
Recorded almost daily from suitable habitats.

TAWNY HEADED SWALLOW (Stelgidopteryx fucata)
Just one record on the 30th.

SOUTHERN ROUGH WINGED SWALLOW (S. ruficollis)
Recorded almost daily from suitable habitats.

BLACK-CAPPED DONACOBIUS (Donacobius atricapillus)
Small numbers were recorded on the 30th.

LONG BILLED WREN (Thryothorus longirostris)
After much effort, this bird finally responded to tape payback on the 4th.

HOUSE WREN (Troglodytes aedon)

Small numbers were recorded on the 29th and 30th.

Recorded daily from any suitable habitat.

PALE-BREASTED THRUSH (T. leucomelas)
Just one record of a single bird on the 3rd.

CREAMY-BELLIED THRUSH (T. amaurochalinus)
Just the one record on the 30th.

WHITE-NECKED THRUSH (T. albicollis)
Just the one record on the 3rd.

COMMON WAXBILL (Estrilda astrid)
A single bird was recorded on the 4th.

RED-EYED VIREO (Vireo olivaceus)
Small numbers recorded on the 1st, 3rd and the 5th.

RUFOUS CROWNED GREENLET (Hylophilus poecilotis)
Small numbers were recorded on the 2nd and the 3rd.

RUFOUS-BROWED PEPPER SHRIKE (Cyclarhis gujanensis)
Recorded in small numbers on several dates.

MASKED YELLOWTHROAT (Geothlypis aequinoctialis)
Single birds were recorded on the 30th and the 3rd.

GOLDEN CROWNED WARBLER (Basileuterus culicivorus)
Recorded almost daily from suitable forested habitat.

WHITE RIMMED WARBLER (B. leucoblepharus)
Small numbers were heard and seen on the 1st.

BANANAQUIT (Coereba flaveola)
Recorded daily from many locations.

MAGPIE TANAGER (Cissopis leveriana)
Distant but good views of a single bird on the 30th.

YELLOW BACKED TANAGER (Hemithraupis flavicollis)
Small numbers were recorded on three occasions, 1st, 4th and again on the 5th.

HOODED TANAGER (Nemosia pileata)
A single bird gave good views on the 4th.

OLIVE-GREEN TANANGER (Orthogonys chloricterus)
Several birds gave good views on the 5th.

FLAME CRESTED TANAGER (Tachyphonus cristatus)
Recorded in small numbers on the 1st, 4th and the 5th.

RUBY CROWNED TANAGER (T. coronatus)
Recorded on most days on the feeders at the lodge.

BLACK GOGGLED TANAGER (Trichothraupis melanops)
Recorded on several occasions from suitable forested habitat.

RED CROWNED ANT TANAGER (Habia rubica)
Small numbers were recorded on the 1st and the 5th.

BRAZILIAN TANAGER (Ramphocelus bresilius)
Recorded almost daily within the grounds of the lodge.

SAYACA TANAGER (Thraupis sayaca)
Recorded almost daily in small numbers.

AZURE SHOULDERED TANAGER (T. cyanoptera)
A pair gave good views on the 3rd, this was the only record.

GOLDEN CHEVRONED TANAGER (T. ornata)
Recorded almost daily from any forested habitat.

PALM TANAGER (T. palmarum)
Recorded almost daily within the grounds of the lodge.

DIADEMED TANAGER (Stephanophorus diadematus)
Several birds gave good views on the 29th.

FAWN-BREASTED TANAGER (Pipraeidea melanonota)
A single bird gave good views on the 29th.

VIOLACEOUS EUPHONIA (Euphonia violacea)
Commonly recorded from the feeders at the lodge.

ORANGE BELLIED EUPHONIA (E. xanthogaster)
Recorded on the lodge feeders on several occasions.

CHESTNUT BELLIED EUPHONIA (E. pectoralis)
Recorded at the feeders by the lodge on several occasions.

BLUE-NAPED CHLOROPHONIA (Chlorophonia cyanea)
Recorded on several occasions at the lodge feeders.

GREEN HEADED TANAGER (Tangara seledon)
Recorded almost everyday from the feeders by the lodge and in suitable lowland forest habitats.

RED NECKED TANAGER (T. cyanocephala)
Recorded regularly within the grounds of the lodge and in suitable lowland forest habitats.

BRASSY BREASTED TANAGER (T. desmaresti)
Recorded in small flocks on 4 days from suitable higher elevation forested habitat.

GILT-EDGED TANAGER (T. cyanoventris)
A small flock gave good views on the 30th.

BURNISHED BUFF TANAGER (T. cayana)
Recorded almost daily on the feeders by the lodge and from suitable forested habitat.

BLUE DACNIS (Dacnis cayana)
Recorded almost daily, common.

GREEN HONEYCREEPER (Chlorophanes spiza)
Recorded on several occasions on the lodge feeders.

BAY-CHESTED WARBLING FINCH (Poospiza thoracica)
Small flocks gave great views on the 29th.

BLUE-BLACK GRASSQUIT (Volatinia jacarina)
Small numbers were seen on the 4th.

DOUBLE-COLLARED SEEDEATER (Sporophila caerulescens)
Recorded in small numbers on the 30th.

SAFFRON FINCH (Sicalis flaveola)
Recorded on several occasions from any suitable habitat.

RUFOUS COLLARED SPARROW (Zonotrichia capensis)
Common in any highland habitat.

BUFF THROATED SALTATOR (Saltator maximus)
Single birds were recorded on the lodge feeders.

BLACK-THROATED GROSBEAK (S. fuliginosus)
Recorded just the once on the 5th.

GREEN-WINGED SALTATOR (S. similis)
A single bird gave good views on the 3rd.

CHESTNUT-CAPPED BALCKBIRD (Agelaius ruficapillus)
Recorded in small numbers on the 30th.

RED RUMPED CACIQUE (Cacicus haemorrhous)
Recorded in small numbers on the 4th.

CRESTED OROPENDOLA (Psarocolius decumanus)
Recorded in small numbers on the 29th, 30th and again on the 31st.

HOODED SISKIN (Carduelis magellanica)
Recorded just the once on the 29th.
