Shorebird Migration is well underway in California. A video diary of our morning at Santa Clara River Estuary, Ventura, CA July 30th 2006. We didn't find any vagrant stints and we didn't see the Semipalmated Sandpiper but there were lots of Western Sands and phalaropes. In the Elegant Tern shot, note the Common Tern lower left and also note the variety of bill color and length on some of the youngsters. All footage shot with Nikon Coolpix through an old Optolyth scope. (2 mins long) Andy Birch
