Surprising summer find aboard Western Prince 12 July 2013 on whale watch out of Friday Harbor. Bird was near Shark Reef Park, Lopez Island, San Juan County, WA. Bird seen in feeding group with gulls (Heerman's & Olympic/GWGU), Rhinoceros Auklets, and a Tufted Puffin. Barely annual in WA, many found dead or offshore in winter but apparently summer birds here typically seen close to shore

Other experiences of Bill\'s include conducting fieldwork for Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory and serving as president of Colorado Field Ornithologists. Bill teaches middle school science in Boulder, Colorado. When he isn\'t birding, Bill enjoys family time with his wife and son.
